Party at the Park!

We had Finn's birthday at the park in our neighborhood the day before his actual birthday.  His birthday fell on a Sunday this year and since all of our family would be coming from out of town, we thought it would be better to have the party Saturday. My sister Laurie and her husband Darin came down Friday night and stayed the weekend with us, but everyone else just drove down for the day on Saturday.  We are so thankful for everyone who came and made Finn's first birthday so special!

The Birthday Boy before his party.

The amazing cake!!  I found the cake on pinterest and a girl that Jeff works with made it for us.  It turned out so cute and was soooo good.

We hadn't asked for a smash cake since I just figured we could give Finn a piece of the cake and he would be just as happy, but tiffany surprised us with this adorable Cookie Monster cake for Finn! So cute and Finn loved it!
Our family!  Again I found the idea for the fruit/veggie trays on pinterest, but Jeff actually put them together.  He is the best daddy everyday, but he was definately Super Dad on the day of his party! I planned the party, but when it came down to executing everything Jeff really did it all.  Finn and I are sooo lucky!!

Finn thought it was so funny when we all started singing Happy Birthday to him.  He just smiled and hammed it up for all the paparazzi, aka family.

He wasn't too sure about what he was supposed to do at first.....

But before too long, he was digging in

Blue frosting in the hair is awesome!

Georgia wanted to take a picture with her "phone"

Clean up time!
Thank goodness for those blue towels and a water faucet.  The wipes were just making it worse.

All Clean!

Birthday Trip to the Zoo

On Finn's actual birthday we went to the zoo.  We are determined to get our money out of those season passes, plus its nice to just get out in this beautiful weather while we can.  It won't be long before its 100 degrees every day.
We took a break for some lemonade and a corndog. Our Zoo has the BEST lemonade ever! There have actually been days that I've considered stopping by the zoo on my way home from work just for the lemonade.  It doesn't help that sometimes I have to park at the zoo since I am still waiting on a parking place at UAMS

Next year we may be just getting Finn balloons for his bday.  He played with these for an entire week before I finally popped them and threw them away.
We decided not to give Finn his present at this party and wait until his actual bday.  I think Jeff and I may be more excited about his gift then he was, but I know he is going to love having a wagon.  Doesn't every little boy need one?

We had plannned to take a walk around the neighborhood, but after such a busy and fun weekend, we were too tired to do more than a few laps around the yard.:-)  I think Finn was ok with that.

365 days=52 weeks=12 months=1 year with Finn

Our sweet boy is offically 1 years old!! He is so much fun and and we are truely amazed at how he seems to learn something new every single day.  We are so blessed to have this boy in our lifes and I am so excited to see what all this next year brings our family.

Finn waves bye bye and Hi, says Momma, DaDa, Butch, Dog, and ball. But mostly he speaks some foreign language, haha!  He can clap, play patty cake, kinda call the hogs, and loves "Bumble Bee, Bumble Bee"  He even does the motions with his finger like his Papa Sid taught him. His favorite toys are any kind of ball, balloons, cars and Butch.  He is obsessed with all dogs, but especially loves his puppy.  We took Butch to the vet a few weeks ago for his yearly check up and Finn was in heaven!  The vet was pretty impressed with how good Butch is with him and how gentle Finn was with Butch.  We have worked on that alot and it has paid off.
Stats:
Weight- 20lbs 1oz (12th percentile)
Height- 30inces (57th percentile)
He is long and skinny!
diapers- size 4
shoes-size 4
Clothing- anywhere from 12 months to 24 months.  In most shirts and shorts its 12-18 months and in rompers/jon jons it 24 months.  All the boys height is in his torso(jeff is exactly the same), poor guy has some short legs like his parents.
Food- This boy will eat anything that isn't green, ha!  His favorites include spagetti, steak, lima beans, fruit of any kind, yogurt, waffles and french fries.  No more baby food for this guy and he even eats the regualar big kid lunches at day care.  The only time I can get him to eat green veggies are if I puree the fruit and mix the veggies in.
We said good bye to the bottle a few days before his birthday and he has done great!  Before then he would only drink water from a sippy cup.  If I tried formula or juice he would just throw the cup down.  Once we switched to whole milk he took to the cup like a champ.  He usually drinks a cup of milk with all his meals and most snacks.  I can't beleive we lucked out on having to break him from the bedtime bottle, but he just started refusing it on his own about 6 weeks ago.
He still loves his paccy and his lovie, but usually only has them at naps and bedtime, he will sometimes have the paccy in the car or if we are out somewhere and he starts to get a little fussy.
Sleep- He still loves it and sleeps around 12-14 hours a night with a few naps during the day.  If we are home he will take two 2 hour naps, but at school he only takes one.  Some days he will take a short nap when we get home from school.  There have even been a few nights when I have to put him to bed at 6 or 6:30 because he is just so tired.  I usually have to wake him up in the mornings around 7:30 for school, but if we don't have to be anywhere he will sleep til around 8 or 8:30.
He is pulling up on anything and everything, and loves to push his toy train and turtle scooter around.  He is crusing around the furniture pretty good and can go from the ottoman to the couch without a problem.  I'm praying for a little while longer before he is walking, but we shall see..:-)
He loves to be outside and we go to the park and the zoo as often as we can.
Finn had a blast at his bday party(another post soon, I promise) and discovered a love for balloons.

Jeff and I got him a wagon for his bday and he is loving going for rides.

Finn-
Momma and Daddy love you so much it hurts(one day when you have a baby of your own you will understand just how awesome that is) and  pray that you will always know that you are our everything.  We can't wait to watch you continue to grow into an amazing little guy and man.  We hope you will always go about your life with your happy laid back nature and enjoy every moment the way you do now.  We love you all the way to the moon and back!
love,
Momma and Daddy

Day at the Papa and Uncle Mike's Cabin

Jeff and his cousins

We got to spend last Sunday at Papa and Uncle Mike's cabin with all of the Sheridan Family.  Papa's brothers and sisters and all the kids get together twice a year and sadly this is the first time we have been able to come in almost 10 years.  The last time I was at one of these reunions Jeff and I had just started dating and I was affectionately referred to as "girl in the red shirt" for most of the day, haha! So glad I don't have to take call with my new job and Jeff was able to switch weekends so we could go this year.  Finn was a little fussy for most of the day, but we made the best of it and he loved all the good food.

This was the best we got that day.  Finn was just starting to cut another tooth and boy was he a slobbery, cranky mess.
